Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Knowledge (K.C.US)

- K. C.US. 1.1: Understand the concept of Chest ultrasound imaging.

- K. C.US. 1.2: Recall the indications and uses of chest ultrasound.

- K.C.US..1.3: Recognise the normal anatomy of the chest and mediastinal structures in ultrasound imaging.

- K.C.US.1.4: Review the different pathologies of the lung in US imaging.

Skills (S.C.US)

- S.C.US.1.1: Identify the different modes, probes of the ultrasound machine and its functions.

- S.C.US.1.2: Operate on the ultrasound machine efficiently.

- S.C.US.1.3: Identify the base of knobology (operating keys) of an ultrasound machine.

- S.C.US.1.4: Hold, slide, angulate and place the ultrasound probe correctly.

- S.C.US.1.5: Perform Chest ultrasound examination in a systematic manner.

- S.C.US.1.6: Identify, locate and comment on lung, pleura, chest wall, diaphragm, and anterior mediastinum.

- S.C.US.1.7: Perform safe practice in ultrasound.

Course Description

The course will be scheduled on 5 days. Each trainee will be able to acquire the knowledge and skills mentioned above through lectures, video presentations and hands on training. At the end of the course each candidate will be assessed on cases by the trainer.
